Contemplations On Being

Director, Producer, Editor

This project stands as a collaborative interpretation of the act of being. Using movement as a device for visual storytelling, the work is intended to convey the feeling of introspection through a collective lens. The collaborative methodologies employed turn something inherently subjective into a shared experience - and open this up to a wider conversation via the viewing participant. The piece feels wonderful and wacky, at times uncomfortable, whilst maintaining a calm and quiet atmosphere. There is an intentional stillness. No beginning nor end, instead standing firmly in the now. The work teeters between certainty and curiosity, thought and feeling, here and there.

Cúrsa Damhsa

Co-Director, DOP, Producer, Editor

‘Cúrsa Damhsa’ is a short film which symbolises the connection between person and place, exploring how an individual is shaped by their environment. The work is focused on the story of Aaron O’Donnell, co-director and key collaborator. Using dance as a storytelling device, the film reflects Aaron’s connection to Northern Ireland and shows how he has been influenced by the world around him. The structure is split into two parts, placing the same story in conversation with itself and highlighting the methodology used for collaborative storytelling.

World Of My Own

Gaffer, First AC

World Of My Own is a participatory short docu-fiction coming of age story told through the autistic lens. The film places director Anna Rooney in conversation with participant Alise, through which they explore how it feels to grow up in a world that was built for everyone but you.
